OK can you explain this to me? I've heard it referenced before...

The tookie tookie bird was a sounder used during the nut hut days of morning radio. The bird would sound and that would be the queue to call in with "the phrase that pays" to win a prize. I realize it's not the same in this case, but it's still cheesy and emitted a pavlovian response from me to compare the two.
