This isn't high literature man, it's friggin Batman, it's always been a cash cow to make money since the 60's TV show brought the franchise back from the brink of death.

comics invite you to buy into an alternate reality. It can be far fetched but since it's still based somewhat in reality (batman doesn't have any actual "superpowers" remember) therefore the movies still have to obey some basic principles.
in the comics he might have travelled through time - but he didn't do it riding a magical flying motorbike that can't make a turnCOD
