  • Bubba Army Redux! app on the Android Market

    Hey guys.

First of all I wanted to say that I am a fan of the show which is why I set out to make this app. To give a little back story I co-founded a small software company, Mobilitude, LLC, that created a radio streaming framework for internet radio applications. So when I saw how the BTLS shows were being cut from Jacksonville and Orlando stations and noticing how "unpolished" the android Bubba Army app was I decided to make this app using the software technology we created.

I am reaching out to the fans of the Bubba Army shows to give this app a fair shake and let others know what they think about it. So far user responses have been favorable but they are few. We are willing to work with the RadioIO.com and the Bubba Army Radio shows to continue building upon this app and do it the right way.

If you have an Android device search for "Bubba Army Redux!" on the Android Market or check it out at https://market.android.com/details?id=mobilitude.radiofreq.bubbaarmy..

    Thank you!

First of all, welcome to the site. I know reaction to the official Bubba Army app has been...I'll be generous and say "mixed." On several platforms. And I don't know what's going on with radioIO's apps but it's telling when Spice and everyone on the show recommends a third party app.

I don't have an Android phone (or any smartphone for that matter) so I can't give feedback but maybe someone here has an Android phone and will give it a shot. Good luck on spreading the word, it's cool to see a fan be proactive and offer a better way to listen.

I like what I see from the screenshots and if there's ever an iOS version I'd check it out on my iPod Touch.

Thanks, guys. Please, do not be afraid to be critical as long as it is constructive. We're professionals and we do not shy from constructive criticism. In other words, refrain from simply saying "Bubba Army Redux! is a piece of shee-it!" LOL!

TuneIn is a cool app, I will give them that. Also, they take advantage of the background service so you can multitask just like the BAR app. Honestly, the only added benefit after that is the direct interaction with the show via Twitter and Facebook and some minor convenient features that make the experience as painless as possible. After all, it was designed to be a content delivery platform for a particular media outlet. It would be interesting if users/listeners compared the two apps.

I like the one touch gimmick! Fast too. I'll try it more when I go out. The one thing I don't like is the channel selector thingy is covering the play/pause buttons.

Noted. I am going to try to find a better way to make the UI's fit for different screens and try to get that in the next update. Other than that, glad the user experience has been good so far!

Yeah man! I have a pretty small screen. That said, I am real happy with this app. Less dropouts, easier access. Fix that little problem I have with it, and I would be happy to give you a buck or two for it.

Do you mind disclosing what handset model you have?

BTW, Android Market policy dictates that once an app is free it will always be free. Besides, it is not good business practice to charge for something that's free once we have promised to give it to consumers for free. If anything, we appreciate if you can spread the word about Mobilitude, LLC and the cool work we do. We have a facebook page for you to share and give us a "liking." This will help us build our reputation and hopefully get us more work!

LOL, no that guy---Ludlow/Lyle---whoever he is is a psycho and seriously needs to find help or something. Don't know why the authorities haven't done anything with him, yet.

I kind of see where you are coming from considering that so much work has been put into this and we have not made any money as of yet. First of all, most of the work was done when I decided to go through with this. We started this project back in July of 2010 for our Alma Mater, Florida Atlantic University. Additionally, this gives us the opportunity to perfect our intellectual property should other media outlets want to contract us to do similar work. So we do have an idea how to capitalize on our effort we invested into these projects but, again, we have to build up our reputation as a company to attract such attention. In the meantime, I have a day job, a family to look after, this project, and distractions I like to indulge in than spend such wasted diligence.

To bring us back to the topic of the app: let us know what you think about it. Feel free to tell us the good and bad because this lets us know what not to take away and what to change about it.
