I see it like this...

Bubba has hit the point in his career where he realizes he's not on the top of the pile... now when you've done something for so long, some people expect to be on top... (which is part of bubba's flaws if you ask me)

so then he thinks - hey I'm not top dog.... so have I been wasting my time my whole life doing this? which kills your spirit cause your questioning everything...

then he says to himself - what else could I have done... the what if phase of his denial... hence the TV and racing...

then he see's that not doing so well (failing to get the show going)

and he's left with being a mediocre DJ who can't get the money he thinks he deserves...
