If the computer is school property and it's policy to restrict the content on said computer, you get pinched. End of story.

Don't normally agree with Shannon, but I'm with him on this point. Zero Tolerance policies don't work. The kid had a picture of a gun. A picture! Last time I checked, photos can't cause physical harm. All that was needed was a counselor or teacher saying "Hey, for the time being, you may want to change that picture and keep your ass out of hot water." Bam, problem solved.
