It was funny though when Romney told Lehrer, "I like you and all, but I would cut funding for NPR"

Conservatism - keep 'em stupid, keep 'em pregnant, keep 'em in church.

60% of the funding for PBS is from grants and private donations from viewers. Hell, even the PBS broadcasting stations are independent and operate as non-profit entities. The fraction of funding that the federal government provides is a literal drop in the budget bucket.

I still think, in the big picture, our Federal gov has it's hands in too many areas they have no business being involved in..and spending OUR money to do so.

And if you want to talk about "keep em pregnant"..look at the majority of people getting EBT, free phones, etc-most have way more kids than they can afford and they BELIEVE the Fed gov is RESPONSIBLE to take care of them. They use it as a way of life for generations. Fuckin grandma in the house..on EBT, mom in the house..on EBT..kids in the house with their OWN kids..on EBT. It is pathetic man.

              • In Fiscal Year 2010, PBS received $281 Million from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, meaning the federal government indirectly supported 12% of PBS. For comparison, we wasted $171 Billion (with a B) on the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan in 2010.

Instead of looking to "trim the fat" with PBS (which isn't a waste to begin with), why not cut into the defense budget instead?

Answer (1 of 2): The breakdown of public television funding is somewhat complex, because public television stations are run independently of PBS, each with their own budgets (though certain states bundle all stations together under one organization). According to the Center for Defense Information, the estimated cost of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan will reach $1.49 trillion by the end of fiscal year 2013. In billions of budgeted dollars Operation FY2001+ 2002 FY20031 FY20042 FY20053 FY2006 FY2007 FY2008 FY2009 FY2010 FY2011 FY2012 FY 2013 Total Iraq $53.0 $75.

Well, as I have said before..there is a LOT of waste in our defense budgets. however..the defense of our country is one the the prime responsibilities of our Fed government.

Not supporting every fuckin cause some damn house/senate member puts on a list for their districts. Or special interest political causes, which I think NPR is. They clearly have a a liberal biased agenda, why should we have to fund that? Why should the Feds have to fund planned parenthood? Why should we as taxpayers have to foot the bill for thousands upon thousands of programs they have no business being involved in?

                  • And what do you think of this Admin telling defense contractors like Lockheed Martin to ignore the law and NOT send notices of imminent layoffs or closures due to the "falling off the cliff" budget cuts that will take effect in Jan?

This admin has said They (meaning taxpayers) would pay their legal fees to violate laws! WTF man, seriously?

                      • My friends kid got caught fuckin this chick..they are both like 16. Well the chick panicked, and said he forced her to have sex. He was charged with rape basically. After the depositions and shit, the girl finally admitted it was consensual, and the charges were dropped.

If not, he would have been convicted of some shit and would have had to register as a sex offender..for LIFE! that kind of stuff is total bulshit IMO.
