Read my above post. That's what I'm going to believe until I hear otherwise. There's been a focus by some on the political themes of the film. It's not hard to believe someone would do this to prove a point.

It's all things that have been around from the first movie since 2005, but themes of the rich vs. poor, faux peace based on lies, etc. Basically the character of Bane is one that shows up claiming to be a liberator of the people by giving them a chance to take their own city back.

If the wackjob saw the film had some ideology he disagreed with, and saw the movie as an endorsement of such, this might be a "statement" of sorts.
