SiriusXM confirmed it will offer a Lynx plug and play 2.0 radio due at the end of the year, which will have a high resolution, color touch screen and will be based on Android.

CEO Mel Karmazin said today that the device will not only offer new SiriusXM channels, but it will access Sirius XM Internet radio via WiFi and stream audio to a home stereo via Bluetooth.

Lynx will also provide time shifting recording and will support software upgrades in the future, said Karmazin in a call with analysts to announce the satellite radio company’s third quarter results.

Earlier this month, Bestbuy.com temporarily posted the Lynx at $249 as “coming soon,” only to withdraw it.

The Best Buy posting on the Lynx said it may be used with a SiriusXM LVI car kit.

Audiovox, the SiriusXM distributor, announced that satellite radio 2.0 devices will ship by the end of November.

Jim Meyer, president of operations & sales said SiriusXM will run Black Friday and holiday promotions with key retail partners and on the SiriusXM online store. “I’m pretty optimistic that the Christmas season will be good,” he said.
