They did use pittsburgh as the location to film the crimey grimey streets of Gotham in the Dark Knight movies.

Only the latest one. Begins had a lot of shooting done in a soundstage, TDK was mostly in Chicago. TDKR is Chicago, Pittsburgh, and NYC.
