The reason they don't have shit streaming on Netflix is simple: they need a deal with the studios for that. They do NOT need a distribution deal for DVDs, strangely enough.

Netflix will not survive the next 2 years if they don't get streaming up to speed and can keep contracts with distribution entities up to date. That within itself will be difficult because now they know Netflix will NEED their services.

Oh, and here's what's happening with streaming rights and Netflix: the cable companies are still able and willing to pay more/charge more for movies, and the rights holders LOVE that shit. So, they are raising their asking price by a factor of 5-10x existing deals, and Netflix is fucked unless they raise their prices (which they've started doing).

In the end, the cable companies will crush Netflix, because they are the "last mile" of much of the distribution of bandwidth in the US, and want to sell movies themselves, not carry Netflix's bandwidth.
