And it's a typical Stern move to say people want to see ___ because of his show, and not because they can draw on their own merit. So then, why would he have someone with no redeeming qualities on his show?

That's always been Howard's excuse for paying people shit. jackie had the nerve to expect more $$ as the Stern show was adding station after station.

That's the difference between Howard and Bubba. Bubba adds a new market, his guys get a raise.

Howard said that was how much Jackie told a reporter he was making. Howard also used the ole "I don't talk salaries" routine. Howie did bust up on a lawsuit rant about Sirius but of course won't say how much that is for.

In reality, I think all of these radio/teevee people are dramatically overpaid. As well as athletes, but it is only because people are willing to pay I guess. As long as consumers use the shit, they will continue.

See, what makes this worse his attempt to sabotage any outside projects his people do. Scott the Engineer, Sal and Richard's live shows, Booey's book and gigs, etc. All of those have been shit on by Howard at some point. He should be flattered people care enough about his show to go to these events, and be happy for his people. But that's not how Howard's mind works.

Honestly, I think the very rare exceptions are Bubba and Scott because they went through the same things he did, and he considers them peers. You hear Stern talk, and he seems to believe everyone should have to go through the same path he did to be respected.
