Related to the discussion on the morning show:

When he was 11, my younger son was playing with a bunch of kids at a schoolyard. A girl from his class came up to the school with her rottweiler, and from 50 yards away, he flipped out when he saw the kids playing across the field, easily ripping the leash out of the little girl's hand and running toward the kids. The dog took a sec to sniff some of the kids, then jumped up on my son who was standing motionless and bit him in the chest. This all happened within about 15 seconds from the time the girl walked up to the school. There was nothing we could do.

The dog backed off and ran across the field to cause some havoc with another dog who was barking. If it weren't for that other dog, I'm pretty sure my son would have been very seriously injured or killed. As it is, he has a nasty scar on his chest that will never go away and was traumatized for the rest of his life. Eventually, the girl got the dog and the leash and took the dog home, away from the kids at the school. We spent the next four hours at the hospital with our son, getting him checked out, the wound cleaned and trying to calm him down and comfort him. Fortunately the dog had papers, so we didn't have to go with the rabies shots...

It was a completely unprovoked attack. This shit happens all the time, and it's not the dogs' fault. The stupid parents of the girl should realize that their little 11 year-old girl cannot possibly control a big dog like that. On top of that, they live in a small apartment (two bedroom row home) and have TWO of these dogs crammed in there with the three of them. WTF do they need two rots for?

Grrr....

I was attacked by a dog one time while I was riding dow the sidewalk on a skateboard...

the guy coming towards me had a big ass dog and when I got close the dog lunged at me, knocking me off my board and onto the road - where I looked up to see a huge Bus barreling at my head...

I got up and out of the way in a mad hurry - and you know that asshole with the dog never even apologized...

another time a guys rotty bit me - or tried to - he only got shirt luckily... but I knocked that dog out... cold
