They have chips in em, so no one can make apple cables for half the price. Therefore you have to pay top dollar for apple exclusive cables.

and that chip simply allows output of video - if there is a micrchip in it - you can emulate that chip on your computer...

Apple endorses them to make their cables for a cut of the profit, gives em the program to activate the chip so they'll work.
