It's a vicious cycle because rock radio has to pander to an aging demographic because younger people are not listening to music on FM radio. So they'll play music that's in that aging demo's comfort zone, and not leave that comfort zone, while guys in that demo bitch about there being no good new rock because they'll shit on everything different.

How many rock countdowns have we heard where that's the case?

And remember, three of the five BTLS music channels were classic rock dominated. Only Spice and Manson's channels did something different.

What I think a lot of people miss is not that "rock is dead" or anything it is that popular music as a whole has been dead for a long long time. The only people listening to radio consistently at all are talk radio fans and the rest are just consuming whatever pop garbage they are being played. There are plenty of interesting acts out there but no one is pushing them like they used to, the market is different now. New music is bought off itunes or google play, not found on the radio anymore. Problem is people like Bubba are stuck in 1989, and any attempt to bring them into the future is met with tantrums.
