Depends on the breed, my older cat doesn't really shed anything. I'll brush him like once a month but even then not much comes off him. He's not like most cats though, he's very chill.

My daughter's cat that was a rescue however....

My cat will follow it for about 3 steps before he looks at me and goes "oh come on quit fuckin with me". He's gotten too clever in is old age for that shit. My daughter's demon spawn will chase it for as long as you'll let her though
