it really isn't a lot... it's a bit much for 1 day of snow accumulation... but it's not done yet... it might die off or get worse...

we need 39 inches (centimeters?) in 24 hours to break records... I can't see that happening at this rate

No shit, I like gettin' on the Cub Cadet lawntractor with a snowblower and chains on the tires. It's a bitch when the wind blows that shit back at ya but it's fun in some sadistic way.
