If they can label the wife as a public figure then this suit is done.

Oh wait, she was an ASA and a member of the Florida bar, well that was easy.

It is really a complete joke of the legal system.

Not to mention a regular on his show from what has been said. To even get to trial on this is a joke.

This is about $15,000?! Are you kidding me? The lawyer fees alone have dwarfed that amount! The only people making money here are the lawyers. I guarantee you that's why this case has dragged on for as long as it has.
Civil courts are commonly divided by the amount of damages being sought.
1 million is in excess of 15k.

To even host such a frivolous suit in a court of law is absurd. If MJ scores a victory, imagine the precedent it would set. Every schoolyard argument, every college bar brawl, every broken family on Maury or Jerry Springer - they could all seek damages for their feelings getting hurt.

I forget if being a public employee makes you a public figure. I mean everything I do at work is public information, even my salary, so I mean I guess that makes me a public figure.

And back to the money thing, they are seeking more than 15k. They don't know how much, but the trial will determine it.

Nothing to walk back. I understand how civil court filings work, with the inclusion of costs and damages awarded by a jury. Just making a point here. Let's not escalate this, eh?
