Huh, well if Drs. are independent then I stand corrected.

Even like when you hear Dr Smith is head of pediatrics of Tampa General, he most likely is in that position as an employee of the hospital, but when he does surgeries, etc. is it as himself. It limits the hospitals risk, and Dr's as well.

This is why when you do to a hospital for a surgery or something, you will get separate bills, from the hospital, the drug Dr, the Dr that does the surgery, etc.

Mostly due to lawsuits and liability. If a Dr botches a surgery, the patient can't sue the hospital, and likewise, if after surgery care is lacking, the DR can't be sued. It's all a shakedown man.
