depends on what you like to play... Neo Geo was kinda rare in North America - the 1000 price tag for the unit and games in the 100's caused it to be glossed over....
The platform didn't last long - but generated some great Titles like Metal Slug, World Champions, Samurai Showdown, etc etc
Also - if your a real oldschooler, the Commodore emulator is a must...
Genesis emulator is also a must if your a sonic or altered beast fan...COD

recently I grabbed Dosbox 0.73
It's an old PC emulator that allows you to play old DOS based games on your newer OS's
You can grab Dosbox here: http://www.dosbox.com/download.php?main=1
simply download and follow that sites tutorial on how to install and run the emulator.. (you will need DOS knowledge - but just the basics, which is probably all most of us remember now )
then you can grab games from all around the net called "abandonware" to find ur games
