    multiboot, baby!

that's how I have my laptop set up.

if you have the live CD or DVD you basically can put aside partition's that can be used by windows.

1st install ubuntu, then install windows

I had help from a friend, but check out the ubuntuforums.org and there will be plenty of advice on the details.

    it's fairly easy, tho

        good luck!

I'm not an expert at this but here is a thread with access to a "Beginners Guide". what is great about most of the linux users is their total willingness to help.

I have found that Ubuntu is easy to use and I've added some programs all by myself

ok, that part is easy. of course I have FIOS so internet connection is automatic and simple. You get notifications of upgrades. I have said YES to all (something I have never done with windows because things can go Blooey there) and it's all been Smooth as a baby's behind.

btw, I am using 8.10 with no issue. There is a newer version now, but I tend not to upgrade until all the "bumps" have been leveled. You can try the newest version and see how it goes. If you don't like it, install the 8.10 version. then install windows

I like the wubi installer,it has you install windows first and gives you an option to choose which OS to boot to http://www.ubuntu.com/download/ubuntu/windows-installer

you can also unistall ubuntu in programs and features of the windows OS doing it this way.

I just came across this live distro that is just for playing games,it comes pre loaded with linux games and video card drivers for gtx and amd cards looks kinda neat gonna try it out.http://live.linux-gamers.net/

I just found this it's kinda cool LILI installer http://www.linuxliveusb.com/en/features it will let you create a persistent USB drive of many distro's + if you wish it has options to boot along with windows,I have a 4 GB USB with Ubuntu and can install programs change backgrounds even keeps your browser info I use it as a portable OS love it,I like to browse using linux so I just boot it from the live USB select try Ubuntu and it pops up just the way I want it and I can still access all the files on my computer - so far I have installed gimp compiz and a few other programs to it,at first it says it didn't install properly but after a re-boot most programs I have tried are there and work just fine
