Unfortunately for Sirius XM, people are finding alternatives for commercial free music, as well as radio. No fee required.

internet radio still costs u your internet bill a month....
Itunes costs out the ass
other options like audible cost money...

my alternative for commercial free music - the stations on my satellite and that costs me almost $100 a month - I'll take sirius anyday but I am NOT listening to fm... I forgot my radio the other day and had no CD's.. I almost turned around half way cause I was screaming at the radio cause there was nothing I listen to on and commercials for like 10 minutes

I'll take bubba's ipod - it's identical to half the damn stations up here already and at least it's got no commercials and you can cycle through the songs

It's not free, but psychologically since people are paying for the devices and internet access, that doesn't seem like a "fee."

Audible only has a few radio shows from XM. It's mostly Audiobooks they sell. But podcasts in general are starting to appeal to many more people than they used to.

Satellite radio still has great potential, but they have to adapt quickly.
