I remember reading about this guy a couple of years ago. pretty amazing, and also shitty the world still allows N Korea to exist.

I forget where I read it but someone pointed out that the problem for North Korea is they don't have a photogenic spokesperson. The Tibetans have the Dalai Lama, Darfur has George Clooney, etc etc etc but North Korea has no one.

Also the main problem is China. The Chinese are more than willing to block action against North Korea (mostly because so long as the human rights heat is on Pyongyang then it's not on Beijing) so they stay propped up.

And they also have China as a defender for any real action that would matter. China doesn't want them free for the fear of a major influx of Koreans to China. And also the flow of info of what Chinese have really allowed and know happens there, always denied by China.

If the Kim's truly wanted to destroy South Korea the easiest way to do it would be to just have the senior leadership disappear one day. The ensuing humanitarian crisis in the north would economically destroy the south.

East Germany 2 or 3 decades behind the West when they were reunited. Over the following 20 years almost $3trillion were transferred from the West to the East to bring the former East Germany up to speed. Imagine trying to make up almost a century of difference. South Korea would be ruined
