If I was Lucas, I'd also go "fuck you, I'm rich." The guy can't really win these days.

I wouldn't count on Luke, Leia and Han being the focus of this new movie so the recasting talk/etc. is kind of silly.

I'd really like to see the Thrawn Trilogy of books turned into movies. Some of the X-Wing/Rogue Squadron books could make good movies if you want to do non-Han/Luke/Leia plots.

If they were smart (hah!) they would have the next 3 involve Mara Jade Skywalker. She has a great character arc.

Yeah. But if you adapt books to film you're going to get people bitching that it wasn't done right or this or that was left out. Plus you'd have to recast unless you put a shitton of makeup on the original cast.

The novels are like well past 100 past Jedi now so if they did a massive leap forward in time they could make something interesting of it.

Problem you have is, it must have Jedi at its core, and must involve the Skywalker/Solo families or the majority just isn't going to give a fuck.

edit: Chob, her recounting some of her history as a badass mean bitch, to her time training Jaina Solo, getting Jaina to knighthood, so on would make a great first movie at least I'd think.

The majority is already going to shit on it before it comes out regardless. They should just do their thing and let it take people by surprise.

I meant more the populace at large, Chob. If they had "hey this is star wars" but then there was no one named Skywalker or Solo in it, it would get slammed majorly even if it was a great movie.
