I think it is pretty clear Burke is smart enough to take a back seat so Bubba's ego doesn't get bruised. The question is however, what comes first?

Bubba getting bored with Shannon and/or the show?

or

Shannon gets tired of dealing with Bubba being bored with him and/or the show?
