I read a report suggesting it was the structure of the fight

boxers fight short rounds so it's all adrenaline rush's

mma guys exhaust that adrenaline )hence the slow 2nd and 3rd rounds)

something how the rests actually hurt the boxers more then if they just kept fighting...
