What really boggles my mind..and many others in the networking field, is why in the fuck are critical systems even accessible via the internet? There is only one plausible reason-convenience. Convenience for people to be able to remotely work on such systems. Which is fuckin ridiculous.

agreed. They aren't supposed to be accessible but they always find an idiot that hooked up something to something else they shouldn't have hooked up.

Yeah, but that wasn't a hack, it was a systems malfunction at a switching station.

But I have worked where classified networks are. We had to physically separate cabling at least 3 feet apart, could not cross secure/non-secure cabling at 90 degrees, other shit. Yet you'd find some fuckin idiot that wanted to take shortcuts, so he dual connected a PC to both networks. Bam. instant intrusion.
