Didn't Ober have another case where he unjustifiably let some bad guy go, a murder case, maybe? Several years ago...

If you're referring to the Donte Morris sawed off shotgun deal, then yes, he let him go because the guy that was the victim was a drug dealer that was found with weed on him at the time and there was zero chance of getting a conviction with the credibility of the "victim". I'm not saying Ober is perfect, probably far from it. All I'm saying is, is that the SAO knows what they are doing when it comes to stuff like this.

Bubba needs to do more stuff like this. This is the most insightful banter I've seen come from his show in forever.
