My son is a computer science major in college, and has the developer kit. I should get him on the job when he has some downtime.

Which developer kit? Php is a little different than what he's probably learning at college. It's easy to pick up, and probably a good thing to learn for private sector work.

Honestly a cs degree is overrated, only place it mattered was on the resume. I taught a class I was taking at the time in college.

The Masters in CS - Software Development is pretty much just for networking and the paper to get him in the door somewhere. After that, well, you know how it goes.
