Bubba the Love Sponge Listening Thread September 4-7, 2012
Bubba thinks he can shuffle off the work on his back office staff and just stamp his name on the product. Like he outright admitted to Spice that he wanted to do and have him take over the show.
i imagine when it cost more to rent the hall than you make back with merch sales
i'm sure that oil spill didn't help matters any... half the reason people go to new orleans is for the seafood... take that off the table and there ain't much draw
But thats what im not getting. how much could a hall cost to rent? hes making it sound like it was 50000 or more which is bullshit
Funny, if b couldn't make a 'break even' showing in NOLA, then you know your jig is up.
I used to live in NOLA and know for a FACT, Jack, that debauchery rules in that town.
I also know this after returning to the Cresent City to do PBR one year after Katrina: If you thought NO was a "Chocolate" city BEFORE the herri-came, wellllll trust me folks, Godiva don't make a bar that dark anymore.
Did anyone study demographics before approaching this?
Did anyone discuss an already economically depressed state/region/city's now PLUNGING job market and the ability for the (minimal) available market presence to fill seats, much less "merch out"?
NOLA is a "service-oriented" city economy: waiters, busboys, bartenders, bellmen, cabbies and Street Level HUSTLERS OUT THE ASS.
What, people were gonna fly in, convention-style - a big cadre of ba's?
As far as hall rental? Nothing in that town would surprise me a bit: It is a rip-off waiting to happen at each and every level. ESPECIALLY if you are "an out-of-town rube".
Could it be that, b thought he would go to NO and SHOW THEM how it's done - only to have his tail between his legs on the sad trip back to Tamper?
And just how many "Chocolate City" demographics is b reeling in? Just "aksking, brah".
In my best "Dubuisson" (the Coonass tug captain) character voice: "Cooo! Lemme tol' you whut: Why, Hell and YES! Mistah bubba, don'tchew be leavin' heah all uh, UP-set-like. Have yo'se'f a sack o' some o' my mama's fresh-hot beignets to have late-ah, hell and yes -You be looking kinda ...empty right about NOW"
