Thats what we did at our wedding, just said if you want to give a gift, money is preferred as we already have a complete house of shit and don't need it. Worked out well, helped offset some of the cost, but not much.

I gotta give MJ the midget props on one thing. He suggested if you are giving cash as a wedding gift, make out check for a weird amount. I did that and my buddy still remembers how much I gave him as a gift.
