                History Channel's "Hatfields & McCoys" set a ratings record on its first night, with more than 13.9 million viewers, various media outlets were reporting.

                The first installment of the miniseries was the most watched of any non-sports program on ad-supported television ever, the New York Daily News reported.

                By comparison, NBC's "America's Got Talent" was the most-watched network program of the evening, with just over 10 million viewers.
