Butting into someone else's business is asking for a fight...or worse, you have to ask yourself if it's really worth it. I saw a guy berate his kid and I walked away mainly because I was armed and saw that if it escalated this dude could have been shot and I could have potentially went to prison all because "I" chose to butt into someone else's business. Just not worth it nowadays.

The whole problem with the old man was he left his house with the gun. If he never walked out the door, the other guy would still be alive and he wouldn't be looking at eight years in prison. It sucks but the old man left the house looking for a fight, got one, pulled his gun, almost lost it (and potentially his life) regained the upper hand and killed the other guy and that is why he is going to prison.
