As rumored, CBS Radio-Philadelphia is expected to announce that it is flipping Rocker WYSP to a simulcast of sister Sports talker 610 WIP-AM. According to the Philadelphia Daily News' Dan Gross, CBS will make an announcement Thursday morning that the changeover will happen on Tuesday, September 6, the day after Labor Day.

And it really has nothing to do with Bubba or any of these personalities. All industries have a shelf life. Nobody makes typewriters anymore. You are hard-pressed to find someone who specializes in printing, or shoe repair. All those good people who delivered milk and ice to your front door no longer do any of that. There's tons of businesses that have no purpose anymore.

And radio is simply not making any money anymore. There is no good reason to listen to terrestrial radio anymore, and there's barely one to listen to satellite. The iPhone (or other smartphone)/iPod touch/iPod (or other mp3 player) and internet radio are the real wave right now. FM radio, and the endless commercials, are out. Cable TV will go that route one day too, although with the massive amounts of money they have and power they wield, they will fight it tooth and nail.

FM radio has no purpose, and nobody wants to put up with it anymore, and now, nobody has to.

you know who's gonna make a zillion dollars - whoever invented internet TV... just think of watching cbs on your computer and when a story comes across the bottom of the screen - you can open it in a new link on your tv's browser...

it's coming... so is commercial-less TV but they're gonna make u pay for it.

So long as the cable companies keep paying exorbitant monies to the networks, studios and channels, they will lock in distribution. The only thing that can change that is to cancel cable and FORCE the move to the innerwebs. As we speak, networks and studios are "pulling back" on their online offerings, delaying distribution over the innerwebs or cancelling it altogether.

tv has already admitted they've lost 50% of their viewers to the internet... you think they aren't scrambling to find a way to cash in on that?

you notice how you can watch nbc and abc right on their website but the web videos have commercials at the start now? It's already begun
