The Captain's Sod Project
I've made mention in the past that my yard was shit, well this weekend the family and I did something about it. We started with 30 tons of high quality top soil to cover over all the exposed roots in the yard. The top soil gave me about three inches of additional height and did a great job covering most of the nuisance roots.

I had a guy come and bobcat the dirt and get it level for the most part. We did a finish grade by pulling a piece of chainlink fence, it did a good job.

Sod arrived Friday afternoon around 1:30. We got started around 5pm and went til we ran out of daylight around 8pm.
The pallets are 4' wide by 5' tall and they each had 500 sq ft. We needed 12 |

This sod was super high grade stuff. It was really moist and the bottom was a beautiful black muck base |

Here's a pic of the dog getting familiar with the new lawn
The two holes in the front yard are for the water and Verizon access hatches. |

And there you have it, the finished product We worked 8a-8p on Saturday and 8a-1p on Sunday. I think it turned out great, a bunch of my neighbors have already come over and commented that they like it as well. |

Well done. Yard maintenance bullshit is one of the reasons I hate suburbs. Fuck all that shit.
