oh hell no
I'm not getting into this race shit.
As soon as you start talking race, you sound like a racist.
I'm wondering where Spic, heeb and chink fall in this argument
aw shit now I sound racist, see?
pretty sure mandatory means they have to go for the life sentence Drew
otherwise they probably wouldn't use the term mandatory.
how the fuck have hispanics been discriminated against?
I've never seen a sign that says "no wetbacks"
I've never been told "we don't serve beans to beaners" before
Then again I'm not a beaner so that wouldn't make much sense to begin with

I'm actually thinking about going. Did it say that Kevin and Jay would be there doing a q and a afterward?
Something tells me a lot of guys are in jail because of their women so this guy might not get as beat up as you think.
I'm actually thinking about going. Did it say that Kevin and Jay would be there doing a q and a afterward?
Yeah they intro the movie, watch it with you and tweet during the film and then they record the Jay and Silent Bob get Old podcast live after the movie and usually take some questions..
It's just like an evening with K Smith but with a bonus cartoon movie
I get called cracker by white people...
is this racist? or is that like the N-word thing?
Goddamn, lot of legal talk on the bone today.
It is true Drew. When exactly was the last time you were in jail again?

Raping a girl or pedophilia is another story. That will get you fucked up in jail and they might put you in PC for your whole sentence cause they know you'll get shanked for that.

Yeah, thanks to that last idiot caller for mentioning when Drew's "expiration date" was. I was hoping he would have shut him up by saying "hey dummy, I just renewed for "x" years" but alas we are still in the dark as to whether he's been renewed or not.
lol wtf am I listening to?
We're all fucking immigrants here :jj:
I mean if we're going to talk about the "ancestry" part of this race talk and go back 100 years - then yes. We've ALL been discriminated against. Gangs of New York isn't just a made up fairy tale - Jewish, Scottish, Irish, Italian etc etc - all these immigrants have had prejudices against each other in the past
I'm a mark for Drew today.
What a profound statement.
If you were re-born as a black man, of course you would have a problem with it
I mean you wouldn't have any memory of ever being white, so I really fail to see how someone could have a problem with it. Then again I am not a self race hater and don't get those who could be.
I'm with ace, I got no problem with any race and obviously if I was one of them I wouldn't have a problem with it :jj:
Goddamn, I'm saddened that racism is still this prevalent in the U.S. 2013. Wtf people, what gain is there from being a discriminatory prick?
I have a problem with racism the same as treating a mental handicap as though they are beneath you. It just not right.

Thanks! Radio contracts, just so you know, always favor the company rather than the talent. Unless you're on a Stern level, they can almost always fire you at any time and get away with paying you just a few months' severance pay. Plus, they can hold you to a non-compete of a few months to a year. Why sign one, then? There's really no good reason other than the intangible "security" of feeling like you're taken care of for the foreseeable future.

someone actually called about this topic a few weeks ago and I remember someone at the bone (can't remember which show they called) said that Miller would be getting his own show on saturdays and possible working with Fisher?

Doesn't it give the station more of a foothold in the marketplace though to say they have their talent locked in to a contract?
I guess on FM it's different, but in other markets your talent is what you sell the ad revenue on.
Wouldn't it be better to say to your advertisers "We understand you like Mr Garabo reading your on air ads and we can guarantee you we won't have 14 different hosts in a span of 4 months reading them"
If no one had contracts you guys might move around like baseball players and then we'd never know what station to turn on

I guess we've all been conditioned (after listening to Bubba for all these years) to think the best when our favorite radio hosts get "locked in" to multi-year deals and the worst when they don't. Radio is a fickle business where you don't know if you have a job from one day to the next, that would be too much for me to deal with on a normal basis. Keep doing your thing Drew, the contract situation (or lack thereof) will take care of itself.

Solid points. However, the advertisers are sold on the ratings. Sure, the talent gets the ratings...but when our sales animals pitch endorsements, they do it based on the ratings. Bubba and Cowhead have the benefit of name-recognition, but pretty much only national clients make annual buys. They don't usually care who the talent is reading the ads, as long as the ratings are high.
I used to believe a contract meant job security...until Clear Channel Orlando signed me to a one-year deal (after about 12 years of employment) and then terminated me a week later. They gave me a few months' severance, but were able to hold me to a non-compete of 3 months even though they terminated me without cause.
So...I'm in no big hurry to sign anything! :)
Thanks as always for the support, oh captain my captain.

:brofist: Drew, when you got put in the 12-3 timeslot I started listening to see what all the bone staff was raving about. I previously didn't listen simply because Bubba's uncensored show started and ended in your slot. I was pretty hooked from day one but as time progressed and I gained more show knowledge I began loving not only the persona of " that guy on the radio" but the things you stand for. You're very passionate about your job and it shows through our dials and apps. The fact that you are consistent on and off the air garners tons of respect.
Hopefully Cox media realizes that you're not just a warm body to which ratings are attributed to, but a hard working talented SOB! I live in Fort Myers and go out of my way to tune in to 102.5 due in large part to the never quit mentality of the on air guys! Thanks for doing what you do, happy 4th Garabo.

I had it done, it's not a big deal at all. The incision was less than a quarter inch. The numbing shot they give you prior hurts more than anything else. The idea of knowing you can never procreate again is quite satisfying I must tell you.

I find the whole Hogan's Beach sponsorship weird as hell after the whole sex tape thing but I guess it makes sense. That's the way to reach the key demo. I wonder if Cowhead is banned from playing the shrimp shack song. :jj:

This state shot down medical marijuana recently. I figure we'll get there eventually, but there's a lot of so called conservatives in rural areas to shoot that kind of thing down until people's opinions change.
You guys in Florida are boned though.

back that bridge up
how do you live being controlled by bridges?
florida sucks by the sound of it
I'd deal with the bridges for the lack of a northeast winter.

Yeah I agree. After Mash damn near ruined Mash's legacy but luckily it was cancelled.
Spin offs are so 80's and I'm sorry but we are not back to an 80's level of quality in TV yet

Speaking of spin offs. Did anyone actually watch That 80's Show besides SJ? :jj: Does that even count as a spin off with no characters in common between the shows?

Exactly. Mash and Friends are two show to which their popularity are much bigger than BB and their spin-offs blew up.

She played a character on Friends - but that show was on after friends I think :jj:
So I don't think it was the same character
cause she played the character on friends after that show was cancelled

The act...
Dog piss jones> Dubstep
I just want to clarify - you didn't think I meant dubstep did you?
cause that's rave music and not any form of reggae
Dub is like really spacey, echoing, heavily "dubbed" (tape machines, echo machines etc) style of reggae
YEAH BLAME IT ON THE RAIN MOTHERFUCKER!
