An Australian morning radio show, The Kyle and Jackie O Show, has been suspended following a lie-detector bit wherein a 14-year-old girl, when asked if she is sexually active, revealed that she had been raped, the BBC reports. (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/8181076.stm)

The radio show saw the girl strapped to a polygraph machine as her mother - who had volunteered to be on air - quizzed her despite apparently knowing she had been assaulted when she was 12 years old.

[Kyle] Sandilands was accused of further insensitivity when after the confession he asked: "Right, and is that the only sexual experience you've had?"http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/08/03/the-kyle-and-jackie-o-sho_n_249832.html

More false outrage. Why isn't there enough heat directed to the stupid mother?

aside from the fact that "lie-detectors" are not accurate (see Penn and tellers Bullshit show), the CORRECT response should be to investigate the possibility that this girl was raped.

me sense is that the mother knew (as some claim) and this was her way to embarrass or call out the rapist. whatever. it's a police issue.

I don't care about this show. I have never watched it. so what if it's 'bad taste'
it's worse to attack children.

best comment on that article:

How is this different from AM Republican (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/08/03/the-kyle-and-jackie-o-sho_n_249832.html?show_comment_id=28228733#comment_28228733) radio?
