I so thought New York was about to have a New Orleans style disaster. I was in yasi this february in cairns australia (http://www.cairnsqueenslandaustralia.com.au), so I've seen a bad hurricane

the media has to scare people into their houses or a lot of dumb fucks end up dead over dumb shit. hit by tree. driving into a flash flood with the inability to swim. touching downed wires. getting washed off a pier trying to snap a new profile pic.

Irene was a low end cat1 and TS when it hit NYC. That's nothing. Not a monster storm.
To answer your question New Orleans is mostly below sea level, I don't think NYC is, therefore it will never flood to that extent. Next report at 11. :jj:
