View Full Version : What vacation programming do you want to hear?

So, reaction is mixed (ok, mostly negative) to replay selections, and at certain points the automated Bubba Two system just plays canned bits from the system until milkman e-mails Greg and asks where the shows are. :jj: So yes there are show downloads to listen to, for those whose plan includes them anyway, but my question is, what do all of YOU want to hear on vacations? Be it old shows, newer shows, favorite Sirius moments, a fill in host, etc.?

Personally I'd like a format to FM best of shows of the past, circa 2008 FM, where there wasn't as much current FM material to replay. These days they have the ability to play anything in their catalog. Mix it up, 98 Rock, Sirius moments, some recent FM stuff. I'm more likely to stay tuned in if I don't know what's coming next rather than a random old show. Bring back the back office staff hosted best ofs and let them add their commentary. The Debriefing crew is talented as hell.

Of course we have to take into consideration everything going on at the BRN. For what Howard 101 does right, we have to keep in mind there's a dedicated tapes team, while everyone at the BRN has a lot on their plate. So tell me, if you had it your way, how would you transform vacation programming from something you dread, to something you'd make it a point to listen to?

I want to hear from EVERYONE, especially newer members that perhaps haven't posted much.

My thoughts:

1. NO FM replays on B2
2. Some real, like you say, best of shows, including old 98Rock stuff. (hosted of course)
3. Older like circa 06-07 Sirius shows
4. Other new talent maybe. Would rather hear Tuddle live than replay of continuous bits.

And most important for someone there to listen and hear the abortion that gets played! Seems no one cares! :idk:

on B2 play whole shows of 98 and siruis days mixid in with about 15 to 30 minutes of bits in between to to keep programming schudle, or if you need more time do a best of io shows

for the B1 replay the FM shows Starting from the last vacation, but if its only one day do a best of, but dont run them all day, at say 7 run one of the first episodes of the specialty shows, to show the people that dont subcribe what they are missing

It'll be great to hear full 98 Rock shows once they're in the system. I was thinking they could also...ahem...borrow the premise for Mammary Lane. Maybe have people send in e-mails sending in requests of what to hear from any era, and if they have it they can put it in a Best of.

how can you borrow a format?
you can borrow bits, but format not so much, all mammary lay is full episodes of best ofs, which people have been doing before stern hit sirius

I'm not saying the concept is fucking revolutionary. I haven't seen you give any ideas besides doing it yourself. Say you did end up editing it, what would you put together? :jj:

I want more live programming. Period. B1 can play the FM shows until the cows come home. And it should, because we can't download them from RadioIO.

As for B2, I don't want 24 hours of replays. I want to hear at least 8 hours of live programming every day, including weekends. For the replay content, I'd like to hear all of the Sirius shows right up to the end and the Rock 98 stuff, which I've never heard.

Forget replays....how about some good ol' fashion LIVE programming. The Diacos are live tonight at 8 pm (sans one Diaco). Our guests include Bucs Head Coach Raheem Morris and up-and-coming MMA fighter Hector Lombard. Do yourself a favor and go to youtube and check out his fight highlights! Look forward to hearing from you guys tonight.

Hector is a big-time banger, looking forward to the interview and the show. He's hardly up-and-coming, though! He's been beating the snot out of people professionally since 2004!

I meant up-and-coming in the sense that if you don't watch Bellator you have probably never heard of him.

So what I get from Brian is he is offering up the Diacos to stand in daily during vaca for some live programming! :D

I'ld like to hear best of comps with a good amount of the "old" terrestrial days mixed in with early sirius days.
